Hurlingham is a terraced property within the Hurlingham Conservation Area in west London.
The client came to us with a brief to extend the ground floor of their terraced home, to create a large family living kitchen dining room.
The internal plan layout had been altered over the years with a conservatory added within the side return, however this left the ground floor as a series of small disconnected spaces. The renovations looked to open up the ground floor to create views from front to back, introduce more natural light and provide open plan family space.
Three arched double doors were introduced into the rear extension, opening out on to a raised terrace and connecting the house with the garden beyond.
A light oak flooring and warm neutrals were used throughout the extension to create a light and calm room, with pops of colour introduced in the kitchen island and soft furnishings.
A new staircase was designed - both in a less obstructive location and more in line with its historic positioning - along with a series of new roof lights above the stairwell to bring more light into both floors.
